With temperatures warming and the days growing longer, it’s time to start thinking about how you can prep your home’s interior for spring. But if you’re like us, you don’t exactly have all the free time in the world. So, how can you quickly and easily incorporate spring colors and trends into your decor?

We’re glad you asked!

Since this year’s spring interior trends feature fairly soft, lowkey elements like pastels and florals, giving your home a little “facelift” shouldn’t take terribly long. Here are a few pointers.

Florals

It’s no surprise that florals are a spring staple. But infusing flowery details into your decor can be overdone, resulting in a stuffy, Victorian-like look.

When adding floral elements into a modern space, less is more. This can be achieved one of two ways. For example, you can designate one wall as an accent wall and apply a bold floral wallpaper to that wall (and that wall alone). Or, select one fabulous floral rug to serve as an anchor for your living room furniture. After all, bold prints are a huge 2018 interior design trend.

On the other hand, you could choose to lightly sprinkle floral details here and thereby placing a few new spring-themed accent pillows on a sofa or even by simply keeping fresh flowers in a light-colored vase on a bedroom end table.

Ice Cream Colors

Getting the springtime mood just right doesn’t have to be complicated. All you have to do is add a few new hues to your home’s interior. This year, “ice cream” colors are more popular than the traditional Easter pastels. What’s the difference between ice cream colors and pastels?

For starters, you can think of traditional pastels as being “chalky” and muted, like the colors of Valentine’s candy hearts. When envisioning ice cream colors, imagine the orange, pink, and green of the rainbow sherbets of your childhood. Ice cream colors are softer, yes, but they still retain much of their neon-like qualities.

With that said, incorporating ice cream colors is as simple as draping a new throw over your sofa, adding a new runner to your dining room table, or even placing fun doormats at the foot of your home’s entries.

Greenery/Foliage

Florals are quite popular this spring (as they are each spring), but this year, many are choosing to use greenery and foliage as decor and skipping the flowers altogether.

Tropical prints are a hot trend right now, but you can also choose to go the authentic route and keep arrangements of succulents, ferns, and other plants around your home. Keeping live plants indoors is not only en vogue, doing so can uplift your mood, brighten a space, and freshen the air. Terrariums are also wildly popular at the moment and are usually quite low maintenance.

Live greenery isn’t the only thing we’re loving this spring. Choosing bold green, blue, and turquoise pieces is the ultimate way to welcome the spring. You can always opt to add a mint-green rug to your living room or go bigger with a beautiful jade accent chair.

When incorporating a larger statement piece into a space, the key is remembering that less is more. Although we love the bold colors of 2018, you don’t want to overwhelm a room with too much of a good thing. Furniture placement is also important to keep in mind.
